I’ve decided to work on improving my drawing skills by focusing on poses. I want to push my poses to maximize their attitude, humor, and storytelling. I came across an artist named Stephen Silver who offers great advice on this topic, and I’ve started doing some of the exercises he suggests. For this drawing, I used a photo reference of an old fashion gangster holding a machine gun and cigar. Then I drew the same character again and tried to push the pose and expression. I think the little extra push gives the character a lot more life and attitude. Let me know what you think!
